The ‘Revolution’ continues…at least casting-wise. The new NBC pilot from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke has just added Giancarlo Esposito to the show to play a “hard-as-steel military man with a genteel southern manner who may not always be what he seems.’
Esposito has made a career of playing characters who aren’t always what they seem to be. After all, he played Gustavo ‘Gus’ Fring, the fast food chicken mogul who secretly ran a meth empire, in the AMC series ‘Breaking Bad’ and has a reoccuring role as Sydney Glass who just happens to be the Magic Mirror in the fairy tale world of ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time.’
In ‘Revolution,’ his character will be part of a group of people that the pilot will follow as humanity struggles to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy has mysteriously ceased to exist.
Esposito will join Graham Rogers who plays Danny Matheson, a capable cunning hunter with a good heart, Tracy Spiridakos (‘Being Human’) who plays a warrior named Charlie, and Anna Lise Phillips (‘Terra Nova’, ‘Home and Away’) who will play a doctor who is unnamed at this time.
With Jon Favreau at the helm and Abrams and Kripke behind the scenes as writers and executive producers, this is another pilot I hope makes it to becoming a series for next season along with the untitled Roland Emmerich drama for ABC. What do you think of the development of ‘Revolution’ so far?
