Fans of George R. R. Martin were given a belated Christmas gift when the author and executive producer of the HBO fantasy drama, recently debuted a chapter from his upcoming novel ‘Winds of Winter.‘
The novel is the 6th in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series and follows the book ‘A Dance with Dragons’ which was published last July. Titled ‘Theon’, the chapter, according to Martin, “… will be found eventually at the beginning of WINDS, but as you will be able to tell from context, it actually takes place before some of the chapters at the end of DANCE.” Martin also teased in his live journal that the paperback edition of ‘A Dance with Dragons’ will feature a different sample chapter when it is released in July 2012.
The HBO show ‘Game of Thrones’ is based on the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series and so far has followed close to the events in the books so if you want to get a sneak peak (or read some “spoilers”) for the upcoming season, the books are the way to go.
No publication date for ‘Winds of Winter’ has been set yet but you can read Martin’s chapter on his website. And in case you haven’t yet seen it, make sure you catch the official season 2 ‘Game of Thrones’ teaser before it starts up again in April!
