Scary clowns strike again.  This time it wasn’t individuals dressed as clowns hanging out on the edge of wooded areas.  The latest incidence is a lot… stranger.  In Harrington Park, New Jersey, Renee Jensen, and her boyfriend, Alex were relaxing in their backyard on Sunday, when a mysterious object soared through the air, missing the trees that surrounded her property and landed.  When Jensen went to investigate, she discovered it was a plush toy of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, as portrayed by Bill Skarsgård in the current film franchise based on Stephen King’s classic horror novel ‘It’.

As you can see, not only was this a creepy Pennywise doll, but it has bizarre markings on its forehead.

As Jensen told USA Today:

“I turned it over and I jumped back and dropped the thing and yelled for Alex.  He picked it up and I was freaking out. It was creepy and it had weird…I don’t even know what the writing was. It looked culty.”

With her boyfriend about to leave for work, Jensen called the police, but officers refused to even touch the doll.  As USA Today reported, Jensen owns a reiki and intuitive healing business, so when the officers left, Jensen took no chances and torched it!

“They left and then I burned the thing.  I tried to burn it with a lighter. The stupid thing would not light because it has the flame retardant. Then I put olive oil on it. Still wouldn’t light. Then I put newspaper on it and light it up on fire… I didn’t want this thing on my property.  I know people think it’s crazy but…it’s creepy.”

That seems to have done the trick.  Just to be safe, Jensen saged her property and took a knife with her when she went to bed.

There doesn’t appear that there has been any explanation for how a Pennywise doll just flew through the air and landed in her yard.  Were some friends just playing a prank?  What do those symbols on the toy’s forehead mean?  Was this just a bizarre marketing campaign for the new movie that just went wrong?

If you’re not too freaked out, ‘It: Chapter Two’ will arrive in theaters on September 6.
