Sam Raimi Wants To Do Another 'Evil Dead' Movie

When Starz cancelled ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ and Bruce Campbell retired from ever playing Ash Williams again it seemed like the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise was finally coming to a close. However, franchise creator Sam Raimi wants to open The Necronomicon and release the Deadite at least one last time!

This isn’t just a vague idea on Raimi’s part either as he has shared, “I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future, but we’re talking about – Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert] and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie.” He went on to clarify this statement so that there was no speculation by stating, “We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature, and in fact, we’re working on some ideas right now.”

Now, don’t get your hopes up that Campbell is willing to strap on the chainsaw one last time quite yet. It is a possibility but with the actor having retired from the role, it will be a stretch to get him back for another outing. With that in mind, Raimi is open to multiple options for the film:

“I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original Evil Dead line. But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede [Álvarez] would come back and make the sequel… but he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that. But there’s also a third possibility we’re talking about “

So, we could either get Ash back, or a second outing with Mia, or someone completely original thrown into the mix. As to how Jane Levy’s character Mia fits into the overall “Evil Dead” universe, the director finally shared how she ties in as well by stating “I think that’s a part of the Evil Dead universe but not part of the Bruce Campbell storyline.” The interviewer wanted clarity that this wasn’t a reboot but happening in a different part of the original films and Raimi confirmed “exactly.” This is our second confirmation that the films were directly linked.

So not only do we potentially have a new “Evil Dead” film happening, but it could continue any of the numerous stories which have been left in limbo!
