Avengers: Endgame Theatrical Re-Release In Detail

I was kinda torn on whether to write this or not because I totally want ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to be the #1 movie of all time.  Disney is making a last-ditch effort to push it past ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ in the US, and ‘Avatar’ worldwide, by tacking on some extra footage to the theatrical showings.  ‘Endgame’ is about to be released on home video, with the requisite number of extras, but… if you have the time, go check it out in theaters one more time.  But if not… here’s what was added.

The first new feature is a tribute to Stan Lee.  This will also be on the DVD/Blu-Ray.  It is a tribute to “The Man” who started it all.  As Stan himself said in a voiceover:

“Not only did I not think I would be doing a cameo in such a big movie, I hadn’t dreamt there’d be such a big movie.  In those days, I was writing those books, I was hoping they’d sell so I wouldn’t lose my job and that I could keep paying the rent… I’ve remembered every cameo I’ve done since the first one. I think I’m a very lucky guy.”

The tribute also includes commentary by James Gunn and Jon Favreau.

The next added bit is an actual deleted scene of The Hulk.  The Russos introduce the clip.

Anthony Russo said:

“Thanks for sticking around.  As you may have noticed we packed a lot into this movie. There are a lot of characters, a lot of action, a lot of emotion, and I think a lot of fun. But believe it or not we shot some scenes that we needed to cut out; I know, the movie could have been even longer.”

Just to be clear this is an UNFINISHED scene, so the CGI is incomplete.  The Hulk’s mouth doesn’t move when he’s speaking.  But the scene depicts The Hulk rescuing people from a burning building, using a satellite dish.

And the last extra is from ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and shows Nick Fury and Maria Hill confronting one of the elemental beings that threaten the Earth.

They are confronted by Mysterio and a “rock monster” (Molten Man?), one of whom stated:

“You don’t want any part of this.”

So… make of this what you will.  If you have the time, check out ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in theatres one more time.
