We first heard that Netflix was developing an Arabic original series titled ‘Jinn’ late last year and now we’ve got our first teaser, release details, and more to share with you! The series’ logline has been revealed to be “Life’s hard enough without having a supernatural being to deal with” and the show will be ready for your binge-watching enjoyment on June 13th, 2019.
‘Jinn’ is a fantasy young adult drama being put together by executive producers Elan and Rajeev Dassani. The two made a name for themselves as VFX specialists on shows such as ‘Scandal’ and ‘Justified’ and have also worked on Oscar-nominated material, so visually this should be something to see!
The brief shots that the teaser trailer shows us seems to confirm that thought! Aside from these two, the series is also being produced by Master Key Productions and Kanter Productions.

The new show is giving a global look at young Arab characters in a “contemporary” setting. We’ll follow a group of teenagers who are just trying to live their lives when a figure appears before “them in the ancient city of Petra.” Now, instead of trying to navigate their own lives they now also must find a way to stop Jinn from destroying the entire world.
According to Dassani:
“Creating Netflix’s first Arabic Original, and one of the first teen-focused shows ever from the Arab world, has been an unforgettable experience. We’ve had so many local teens tell us they’ve never seen themselves accurately represented on screen, and it is both our pleasure and our responsibility to bring that to them and, in doing so, showcase all that the region has to offer.”
