The oldest and most notorious feud in the Marvel Universe will finally find its way to the big screen, as the upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ will become the first film to feature the Kree-Skrull War!
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will find herself in the middle of the conflict during her film. An exclusive featurette was recently released, giving fans some behind the scenes looks at the drama!
One alien race at the center of the fight is the Kree. Lee Pace is back as the eternally moody Ronan the Accuser and Djimon Hounsou will reprise his role as Korath the Pursuer for ‘Captain Marvel,’ alongside newcomer Kree like Jude Law and Gemma Chan. The Kree race is made up of devout, dedicated warriors and are a nationalistic, imperialistic people who value the good of the entire race, rather than the comfort of the individual.
On the other side of this are the Skrulls. These villains made their first appearance way back in 1962 in ‘Fantastic Four.’ Since then, they’ve become one of the most notorious race of bad guys in the Marvel Universe. The Skrulls are known for their shapeshifting abilities, and the ability to impersonate anyone they choose. Ben Mendelsohn’s character Talos leads the Skrull race in ‘Captain Marvel,’ as his search for an unnamed object brings him to Earth.
In a previous interview about the famed battle between the Kree and the Skrulls, Mendelsohn said:
“We gotta deal with the Kree. The Kree are punks. And the Skrulls, I mean, we’re just misunderstood. At the end of the day, the Skrull is really misunderstood. Look, I don’t want to curse in print or anywhere else, but if I could, I would about the Kree.”
You can choose your side when ‘Captain Marvel’ opens in theaters March 8. Check out the exclusive featurette below!
