Spawn

After years in development, it seems like Todd McFarlane‘s ‘Spawn‘ is getting closer to the finish line of being created. The series creator and director of the new film are making a few tweaks to the script but feels that it is finally ready to start pitching to production studios once these last changes are made.

According to McFarlane:

“Yeah, I’ve got somebody that’s doing some tweaks on this script right now, and as soon as we’re done with that, we’re gonna go full steam ahead. I’ve got financial people waiting in the wings, so if the studios decide that they’re gonna hesitate, then we’re gonna just go with outside money.”

The creator has already made it known that even if he can’t find a studio who will finance the film that it will end up being created as he has investors waiting in the wings to make sure it happens. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to have a significant studio backing to get it in front of as many eyes as possible.

This doesn’t guarantee that we’ll be seeing the movie go into production immediately, however, as it would depend on what time slots are open if a studio does pick up the film. The two variables in McFarlane’s mind while picking a studio is when it could happen as well as what the studio is willing to put into the marketing of the movie. He’s shared that “we’ll just have to weigh those variables, and then go, “Which one do we think makes the most sense for the project’s success as a whole?” Of course, all of that could be thrown out the window if the film would end up appearing on Netflix.
