We’ve been eagerly awaiting ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ to see Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah added to the list of Kaiju, or Titans, which are found on Earth. Now, a fifth Titan may have been accidentally revealed to be appearing in the film! The second trailer appeared to show that there were going to be two more Titans showing up in the MonsterVerse and neither one is Kong. Who they are has been a mystery with a few guesses out there.
Assuming they are based on classic Kaiju, it would be a likely guess that the crab-legged creature will end up as Kumonga while the mysterious monster found under a mountain is Anguirus.
Director Micheal Dougherty was recently talking about his favorite Kaiju and shared that MechaGodzilla, Anguirus, and Biollante are his favorite three who aren’t yet in the new rebooted films. Later in the interview, he would go on to say that if he were able to make ‘Godzilla 3’ down the line that he would make a point to include both Biollante and Gigan.
Why was Anguirus left off the list? One can guess it would be due to the creature being one of the secret Titans from the last trailer. This isn’t confirmation, but it is an easy jump of logic to make.
Either that or Anguirus is at the bottom of Dougherty’s favorites, and he just doesn’t have a way to work the monster in.
Do you think that we’ll end up seeing Anguirus in ‘Godzilla: King of the Monster’? Are there any other classic Kaiju that you hope will get to make an appearance either here or in a later film? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ will be roaring into theaters on May 31st, 2019!
