Fans of the cosmic side of Marvel are going to be thrilled as ‘Captain Marvel‘ is officially bringing the Supreme Intelligence into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! With Carol Danvers a part of Star Force and the introduction of the Kree Empire, it isn’t too surprising that we’ll see him included. I’m just curious as to what it will look like in the film.
For those unfamiliar with the Supreme Intelligence, it was created over a million years ago by the Kree and is composed of the greatest Kree minds which grows as new brains are added into its own. Originally, it was introduced into the comics to attempt to create a Cosmic Cube as the Skrulls had once been able to do. We haven’t seen a Cosmic Cube in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far and the closest thing to it was an Infinity Stone hidden within The Tesseract.
When asked if the cosmic being would be included, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz stated:
“For sure. Part of the fun of the Kree world is establishing the Supreme Intelligence. I don’t think you could do Hala without it.”
There have been rumors he would appear thanks to packaging from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends, but this is the first time someone directly involved with Marvel Studios and the film have commented that he would be.
The Supreme Intelligence has been crucial to many cosmic proceedings in the past due to the extensive reach of the Kree Empire and isn’t universally liked. Often, the creation will do whatever it feels is best for the empire and doesn’t care what the ramifications to others will be because of this. This is also who appointed Ronan as the “Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire” and led the two to work together for years before Ronan disagreed with the Supreme Intelligence’s policies and prompted him to try and overthrow the computer and the existing government for the betterment of the Empire.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
‘Captain Marvel’ will be flying Higher, Further, Faster onto the big screen on March 8th, 2019!
