Once more Syfy has come to crush their fans and this time out is the zombie series ‘Z Nation‘ that is getting a headshot from the network. The fifth season finale for the series will now have to serve as a series finale according to producer David Michael Latt. Fans have already taken to asking Netflix to save the series from being put into an early grave and are hoping that just like the undead on the series that they’ll be getting another chance at life.
According to Latt:
“We wanted to tell you face to face… that we were not renewed for Season 6. We’re stopping at Season 5. We’re very sad, but we’re also really grateful with the opportunities that we had on the show. This is not the end of anything. This is just the beginning of a lot of things.”
We know that in July a Netflix prequel series to the show titled ‘Black Summer’ was picked up which is likely why fans are hoping that the streaming giant will find it in the cold dead hearts to renew ‘Z Nation’ for a sixth season as well. The new show is going to have a mother searching for her daughter in the apocalypse who “must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions.”
Assuming that Netflix doesn’t bring them back, the series finale will mean that ‘Z Nation has had a 68-episode run which is nothing to sneeze at.
What are your thoughts on Syfy’s ‘Z Nation’ getting cancelled? Do you think that we could see the streaming giant Netflix pick up the series for a sixth season? Are we more or less likely to see it happen with ‘Black Summer’ already in development? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
‘Z Nation’ will air its final episode on Friday, December 28th, 2018 at 9/8c.
