harley quinn poison ivy margot robbie

As much as fans would love to see a new live-action take on the Batman villain Poison Ivy, it sounds like an actress who could play across from her is even more excited about the prospect! Margot Robbie who plays Harley Quinn in the ‘Birds of Prey’ would be thrilled to have the character join the cast down the line. The two have been partners since ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ and have become lovers in the comics since that time. With the new film officially being titled ‘Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)‘ hinting at the idea that Quinn is moving on from the Joker, it would seem like this would be a good time to introduce audiences to her future partner in crime. Of course, with one of the announced films being a Joker and Harley Quinn movie that might not necessarily be the case.

As to how Robbie feels about Ivy being included in a future film?

“Yeah. If you read the comics, you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics, you can see that they’re actually sexually involved as a couple. I’ve been trying to – I would love to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because the Harley and Poison Ivy relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I’m looking to explore that on screen”

It seems that she is thrilled at the idea! Hopefully, the new name for ‘Birds of Prey’ might mean that we’ll at least get an introduction to a new live-action Poison Ivy as well. As to who the actress would love to play across down the line?

“You know what? I’ve thought about it a lot, and there’s no one person who springs to mind. I’m pretty open-minded.”

Would you be thrilled to see Poison Ivy join a future live-action DC film? Do you have any actresses in mind who would be perfect for the part? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
