After the whirlwind of drama surrounding James Gunn being fired from Marvel Studios and with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘ put on hold indefinitely, many fans wondered how that would affect ‘Avengers 4.’ Dave Bautista has made it extremely clear that he is open to not returning as Drax and some have wondered if this drama could have had his character being actually killed off in the upcoming film’s reshoots.
Drax dying or not is a moot point, at least in the terms of James Gunn being fired as the Russo Brothers have shared that nothing about the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ delay had any effect on their film. The directing duo was at an ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ screening with a Q&A after and the question came up about the Guardians. The two shared one thing that should keep fans happy, at least for the upcoming film:
Guardians 3 being put on indefinite hold did not change the Russo Brothers approach for Avengers 4 and where it leaves the Guardians because they had already finished shooting the movie.

So, these scenes had already been shot and no changes to the characters were made for ‘Avengers 4.’ If any of the Guardians don’t return to the land of the living or are killed off once the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ are undone it won’t be due to James Gunn being fired.
Are you happy to hear that the original story intended for the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in ‘Avengers 4’ was left intact?
