Daredevil

To say Matt Murdock is in a bad place at the end of ‘The Defenders’ is an understatement and now we’ll be seeing how that plays out in the third season of ‘Daredevil‘. We’ve already seen how badly the Man Without Fear was broken, but now we’re being told that he shall be “physically incapable” of resuming his duties as a hero. Considering Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand all thought he had died when a building fell on him and haven’t heard about him since, it should share exactly how badly off he was.

The new details about Matt’s condition come from showrunner Erik Oleson who shared:

“As we kick off the show, we’re going to find Matt Murdock in a very, very dark place. He’s just come off of Defenders, and the events of that. He is not letting his friends know that he is alive in the beginning of this season. He’s letting Foggy, and Karen think that he perished under the Midland Circle building at the end of Defenders. Matt has issues with God; he has issues with his abilities. He is not in physically good shape at the beginning of the season and is physically incapable of being the Daredevil that he has always been. And [he] is going through somewhat of a spiritual crisis, as a result, an identity crisis.”

Murdock might want to continue his duties as The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen with his personal life and beliefs scattered in the winds, but it sounds like he just won’t be able to. Seeing him having to recover will be hard enough, and I’m sure that learning Wilson Fisk has been let out of prison will help motivate him to go on.

Are you excited to see Matt Murdock rediscover who he is while rebuilding his body from the near-fatal injuries which he suffered? Do you think that we’ll see Daredevil back to full fighting form by the end of the third season or will he be pushing himself to near death for the entire run?
