Daredevil

The Netflix Marvel TV shows have all had a rich history of characters crossing over and dropping casual Easter eggs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that isn’t something you should be looking forward to in the third season of ‘Daredevil.’ While we’ve been enjoying the crossovers from ‘The Defenders’ to introducing us to ‘The Punisher,’ that isn’t what the upcoming outing of The Man Without Fear is going to be about. We know that Matt Murdock is going to have on a journey to find himself moving forward and it sounds like getting involved with other heroes isn’t something that will be on his radar.

According to showrunner Erik Oleson:

“I wanted it to be standalone, I did not do crossovers this season. I wanted to really get back to these core characters and use the real estate to focus on who they are and really fleshed them out before I introduced external and other elements of the MCU, at least on the Netflix/Marvel side – I really wanted to get back to the core characters and tell a character-driven season.”

So don’t expect any appearances by Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, the Daughters of the Dragon, or glimpses of anything involved with The Avengers here. While I’m sure Oleson won’t entirely pass up on including an Easter egg or two, we won’t have anything overt as has been previously done in the series.

Are you glad that ‘Daredevil’ will be getting back to its roots for the third season or have you been enjoying how they’ve handled the crossovers so far? With Iron Fist being out of the country, Luke Cage as a mini-kingpin, and Jessica Jones off doing her own thing, is there even a feasible cameo which could be made outside of Frank Castle?
