The ‘Charmed’ reboot is just days away from premiering on the CW. After backlash from fans and stars of the original witchy drama, those involved in the reboot were quick to explain that the series would be its own creation and would keep the integrity of the original intact. However, it looks like the reboot will use a romance from the first ‘Charmed’ as inspiration!
‘Charmed’ executive producer Jessica O’Toole gave an interview while attending the PaleyFest Fall TV Preview and hinted that a romantic predicament that will appear on the show was directly inspired by one from the original series. O’Toole said:
“There is a romance that’s inspired by our favorite romance from the original ‘Charmed.’ I don’t know if I should say — I can’t, I can’t say!”
While O’Toole wouldn’t give anything else away, ‘Charmed’ executive producer Amy Rardin said that fans of the original wouldn’t have a tough time figuring it out. She said:
“I think you can probably guess.”
Fans of the original could probably summon up a few scenarios that could serve as inspiration for this new romance. While the series will serve as a reboot, Madeleine Mantock, who plays Macy, gave an interview during San Diego Comic-Con and explained that the show is a tribute, not a rip-off. Mantock said:
“We’re new characters living in a world. It’s a new set of witches who’ve discovered they have powers. I think it’s maybe a misconception to say it’s a rip-off. I saw somebody yesterday describe it as a tribute to [the original] and I thought that was quite nice.”
The new ‘Charmed’ premieres on The CW Sunday, October 14 at 9/8c after ‘Supergirl!’ Check out a trailer for ‘Charmed’ below!
