It’s not Halloween without candy, but the trailer for ‘Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween’ introduces some Gummy Bears that you really don’t want. That explains the movie’s tagline, “If the tricks don’t get you, the treats will.”
The evil Gummy Bears among the ghouls coming to chill viewers in this colorful sequel to the 2015 hit, both based on the works of R.L. Stine. Unfortunately, Jack Black, Dylan Minette and Odeya Rush, who starred in the first, did not return for the sequel. (Black can instead be seen in another family Halloween movie, ‘The House with a Clock in its Walls’, in theaters now.) Rather than focusing on an adult lead, this movie centers around the kids, played by ‘It”s Jeremy Ray Taylor as Sonny Quinn, ‘Castle Rock”s Caleel Harris as Sam Carter and ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”s Madison Iseman as Sonny’s sister Sarah. At least Taylor and Harris have practice playing scared!
The cast also includes Wendi McLendon-Covey who plays Sonny and Sarah’s mother, Kathy, along with Ken Jeong and Chris Parnell. Director Ari Sandel recently helmed the Netflix original movie ‘When We First Met’ as well as an episode of ‘Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments’. ‘Peter Rabbit”s Rob Lieber penned the script and Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz act as producers.
