Henry Cavill has been lobbying to play Geralt in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher‘ and now the actor has gotten the part! In recent months the actor had finished playing through ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ and has also dug into the series past just the trilogy of video games. Cavill is a huge fan of the concept and has read all of the novels which Andrzej Sapkowski wrote that were an inspiration to the games and the upcoming series.
While this is exciting news, writer, and executive producer Lauren S. Hissrich previously did state that we won’t see the show until at least 2020, so I wouldn’t start holding my breath for a trailer anytime soon.
When the series does land, we know that it will have an eight-episode run for the first season and is described as “an epic tale of fate and family.” We’ll see Cavill playing the part of Geralt of Rivia who is a monster hunter who generally finds humanity to be less tolerable than the creatures he has been sworn to rid the world of. However, this solitary figure is soon thrust into a quest with a powerful sorceress and a young princess who holds a dangerous secret. The trio has to learn to work with one another to survive.
It sounds like all of that working out to stay in shape as Superman for ‘Justice League,’ and the previous films won’t go to waste here!
Do you think that Henry Cavill will be able to pull off playing Geralt on Netflix’s take on ‘The Witcher’? Will the actor be a great choice with his familiarity with the source material? If you’ve read the books, do you have any thoughts on who would be perfect to cast to flesh out the rest of the cast? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
