Fresh off her acclaimed role in the indie hit ‘Eighth Grade’, Elsie Fisher has lined up her next role. She will be providing a voice for the new animated movie ‘The Addams Family’. Fisher will voice Parker Needler, the daughter of Allison Janney’s antagonist character Margaux Needler. Fisher is no stranger to animated films, as she voiced Agnes in the ‘Despicable Me’ movies and other related projects.
‘The Addams Family’ will be directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, who previously helmed the raunchy R-rated ‘Sausage Party’. Vernon previously directed ‘Shrek 2’, ‘Monsters Versus Aliens’ and ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’, while Tiernan is one of the primary directors of the long-running preschool-aimed ‘Thomas & Friends’ franchise.
Fisher joins an all-star cast on ‘The Addams Family’, fronted by ‘Star Wars” Oscar Isaac, who is voicing father Gomez Addams, with Charlize Theron as his seductive wife Morticia. Chloë Grace Moretz and Finn Wolfhard will voice the Addams kids, Wednesday and Pugsley, respectively, while Nick Kroll provides the voice of Uncle Fester and the legendary Bette Midler will voice Grandmama. ‘Lucifer”s Aimee Garcia will also voice a character named Denise, but the nature of her role is unknown.
This is just the latest incarnation of the famously mysterious and spooky clan who starred in their own hit TV series from 1964-66. There were also the two hit theatrical movies in 1991 and 1993 which starred Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd and Christina Ricci. ‘The Addams Family’ has also been featured in multiple animated series and even a Broadway musical. Of course, all of these were all based on the quirky comic strips by Charles Addams which were originally printed in The New Yorker.
Fisher gained notice for her appearance in this summer’s indie hit ‘Eighth Grade’ written and directed by comedian Bo Burnam. The movie was praised for its realistic portrayal of a tween coming of age in today’s age of social media.
‘The Addams Family’ comes from MGM and will be released in time for next Halloween, on October 18, 2019.
