MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SPOIL A CERTAIN EVENT COMING UP ON SEASON NINE OF ‘THE WALKING DEAD’!!!  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Considering that this website is dedicated to genre fiction, we take great care to warn readers if our articles contain SPOILERS or even RUMORS that may turn out to be SPOILERS.  However, it seems that other, more mainstream publications and services don’t have that mentality in place and a MAJOR SPOILER for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Nine appeared in the opening paragraph of an article by, of all places, the Associated Press!

We already knew that Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and Andrew Lincoln (Rick) are leaving the show, although HOW they leave, whether they live or die, are obviously kept under wraps.  But a recent article spilled the beans on how one character will fare on season nine.

Once again, you have been warned!

In an article about Cohan and her future projects, the Associated Press opened their article with this paragraph:

After eight seasons of fighting for her life on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” Lauren Cohan knew she needed a change when she felt a little too comfortable with the job. That’s why she’s saying goodbye to the role, though producers are leaving the door open should she change her mind.

Yep, so there you have it.  Cohan is leaving the show, but producers are keeping her spot warm, should she decide to return.  So obviously, she doesn’t die.  It remains to be seen how her character makes her exit– how she remains alive while leaving her close-knit family of survivors behind.

As stated in the opening paragraph, Cohan felt she was getting too comfortable in the role, but she also acknowledged that the emotional strain was getting to be too much.

“Eight years is a really long time to be in those emotional depths and it’s really fun for me because I never thought about drama as much when I started this career and I always kind of assumed I’d do like light fare.”

Cohan will appear in Peter Berg’s action movie ‘Mile 22’, which also stars Mark Wahlberg and opens this weekend.  The film is being eyed as the possible start of a franchise.  She will then be seen on the ABC spy series ‘Whiskey Cavalier’ with Scott Foley which premieres in the spring.
