Shazam

Warner Bros has released a second image from ‘Shazam!’, following the one released last week.  Once again, the photo shows Zachary Levi in the famous red jumpsuit accompanied by Jack Dylan Grazer as his pal Freddy Freeman.

First, in case you missed it, here’s the picture that was released last week:

In the newer photo, we see Freddy activating one of Shazam’s powers.  I must admit, I wasn’t a fan of Geoff Johns’ New 52 ‘Shazam!’ so I don’t know if the light-up effects on his costume serve a purpose or if they’re just kind of decorative.  Either way, they look cool.

It’s been announced that Warner Bros will unveil the first trailer for ‘Shazam!’ this weekend at San Diego ComComic-Con. It’s also possible that more footage will be shown and the cast and crew may offer a few hints at what to expect.  WB is also premiering an ‘Aquaman’ trailer and it’s rumored some footage from ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ which just recently began filming.

Levi’s alter ego in the film, Billy Batson, is played by Asher Angel, and though it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s very likely that by the end of the film, Grazer’s Freddy may transform into his own adult super hero form, portrayed by Adam Brody.  Brody, along with Ross Butler and D.J. Cotrona are cast in ‘Shazam!’ but their roles are being kept under wraps.  But it’s most likely that they are playing the adult superhero versions of Freddy, Eugene Choi (played as a kid by Ian Chen) and Pedro Peña (Jovan Armand), but with a film of this nature, the adult versions may only pop up in a post-credits stinger to tease a sequel.

Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Asher Angel (Billy Batson), Ian Chen (Eugene Choi), Jovan Armand (Pedro Peña) and Grace Fulton (Mary Bromfeld).

Check back later this week for any major ‘Shazam!’ news from SDCC!

Directed by David F. Sandberg, ‘Shazam!’ stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Cooper Andrews, Jovan Armand, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Ian Chen, DJ Cotrona, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Djimon Hounsou and Marta Milans.  The film opens on April 5, 2019.
