Descendants 3

Get ready for one more (and likely last) trip to the Isle of the Lost as production has begun on ‘Descendants 3’ the final chapter in the hit Disney Channel Original Movie franchise.  Star Sophia Carson who plays Evie the daughter of the Evil Queen from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ tweeted that she had just shot the first dance number from the movie.

The first official photo from the threequel has been released and shows the four main stars in new outfits– Cameron Boyce as Carlos, the son of Cruella De Ville, Carson, Dove Cameron as Mal, the daughter of Maleficent and Booboo Stewart as Jay, the son of Jafar.  You may notice that Mal doesn’t have bangs like she did in ‘Descendants 2’ and in the teaser trailer for ‘Descendants 3’, but she doesn’t in this photo.

As you can tell from the picture, the Villain Kids (or VKs) are back on the Isle of the Lost, the isolated prison settlement where all the classic Disney villains were sent, while the heroic and royal characters went to live in Auradon, where their offspring attend the prestigious Audadon Academy high school.  In the first movie, Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay were invited to leave the Isle and attend Auradon Academy, where they experienced trouble fitting in.

Also returning for the third installment are Mitchell Hope as King Ben, the son of Beauty and the Beast, as well as Keegan Connor Tracy and Dan Payne as his parents and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother.  China Anne McClain joined the cast in the second movie as antagonist Uma, the daughter of Ursula.  She was assisted by Harry, Captain Hook’s son, played by Thomas Doherty and Gil, Gaston’s son, played by Dylan Playfair.  All three will be back, as will Anna Cathcart, who was also introduced in the second movie as Dizzy the daughter of Cinderella’s stepsister Drizella.  Sarah Jeffrey, who was absent from ‘Descendants 2′, returns for the third movie as Audrey, Sleeping Beauty’s daughter.  Also coming back is Judith Maxie as Audrey’s grandmother and Aurora’s mother Queen Leah.  Finally, also returning will be Jedidiah Goodacre as Prince Charming and Cinderella’s son Chad, Zachary Gibson as Dopey’s son Doug (who is also Evie’s love interest) and Brenna D’Amico as Fairy Godmother’s daughter Jane (Carlos’ love interest).  (Though she isn’t listed, presumably Dianne Doan will also be back as Mulan’s daughter Lonnie, who is Jay’s girlfriend.)

Newcomers include Cheyenne Jackson who will play Mal’s father Hades, Jamal Sims as Dr. Facilier, Jadah Marie as his daughter Celia, and Christian Convery and Luke Roessler who will play Smee’s twin sons Squeaky and Squirmy.

‘Descendants 3’ will air on the Disney Channel next summer.
