We’ve already heard from Hugh Jackman that a Wolverine and Deadpool crossover isn’t in the cards but now producer Simon Kinberg is letting fans know to not get their hopes up. He’s been entertainingly watching Ryan Reynolds‘ attempts to woo Jackman into reprising his role for one last outing but that likely isn’t meant to be. Kinberg wouldn’t hammer the final nail into Wolverine’s coffin because “there’s always a chance,” but if anyone is going to hold their breath for it to happen they should likely have a healing factor of their own.
Kinberg was asked about such a cameo or future collaboration at the premiere for ‘Deadpool 2‘ this week and stated:
“I know that’s something that Ryan [Reynolds] has been harassing Hugh Jackman about for a long time. But I produced Logan, and I think we all felt like that was a really fitting end for that character. So is there a chance? There’s always a chance I suppose, but I think we felt like that was the best goodbye for Hugh as Wolverine.”
Harassing probably is the correct word too if you factor in Reynolds hanging out in Jackman’s hotel room while fully dressed up in his costume. You can only imagine how much Jackman probably wished he still had the claws on for when that happened!
Are you sad that another major player in the ‘X-Men’ universe has confirmed that we’ll never see a Deadpool and Wolverine crossover with Hugh Jackman? Do you think this joke has run its course or are you still enjoying watching these two go at one another? Would you enjoy the breaking of the fourth wall to share how much Deadpool liked the over Wolverine more if they recast the part and a crossover occurred? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
