We’ve known that time was coming to an end for ’12 Monkeys’ and now Syfy has revealed a few details including when the final season will premiere. Things are going to get interesting when the show kicks off this summer on Friday, June 15th, 2018 at 8/7c as the network has big plans on how to close off the fourth season.
The plan is for an 11-episode run which will play out over four weeks. They’ll allow for some mini-binging as three episodes will air on each Friday from 8 to 11 pm with the final two-hour season finale will drop on Friday, July 6th, 2018 at 9 pm.
This isn’t quite the three-day binge watch that the third season allowed in May of last year but had some huge moments in itself. When we left things off, Olivia has just slit the throat of Cole and Cassie’s son Athan before becoming The Witness. Flashing back to 2047 we saw Titan splinter. Finally, we saw that Cole’s mother might be primary.
It was one twist after another, and when the show comes back, Cassie and Cole will be “on an epic quest, traveling further back in time than they have ever been before.” However, it isn’t going to be easy for them as “according to legend, their only hope lies with a weapon capable of stopping the Witness for good. But they’ll soon discover that in order to win the final battle and save time itself, they will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.”
Executive producer Terry Matalas states:
“Season 4 is the most ambitious season of 12 Monkeys to date in terms of emotional and mythological payoff, scope, visual effects, and score. I’m very proud of our final outing and can’t wait for fans to get to the end of the circle.”
After having already lost their son, the ultimate sacrifice might not be too much of a stretch for these two time-traveling heroes to make. Especially, if it also offers them up a chance to dish out some revenge at the same time.
Are you looking forward to finally being able to see how ’12 Monkeys’ is going to play out? Will our two heroes get a happy ending or will things just go from bad to worse for them? Share your thoughts below!
