‘Captain Marvel’ has officially begun production and to celebrate, Marvel Studios has released a new photograph of star Brie Larson as Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, along with real pilot Brigadier General Jeannie Leavitt, 57th Wing Commander. The photo accompanied a new press release which further revealed the film’s synopsis and cast, including the revelation that ‘Captain Marvel’ will welcome back some familiar faces. As we already knew, Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury would appear and that he would still have both eyes, as the film is set in the 1990s. Now we know that he’ll be joined by one of his most trusty comrades, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg. Coulson was killed off in ‘Avengers’ but was revived for the TV series ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ but so far the movies haven’t acknowledged that.
The press release also revealed that the two Kree warriors from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) would appear. Both were baddies in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in which they served Thanos and attempted to secure the blue Power Infinity Stone. They were also both killed in that movie, but once again, since this is set in the past, they will still be alive.
