And we are BACK! Welcome to a brand spanking new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! It’s been a while! Kind of. We haven’t done our usual ‘Toy News Tuesday’ thing because we’ve been busy bringing you a ton of New York Toy Fair 2018 news! This week we’re getting back into the swing of things and there is plenty of cool new stuff we haven’t been able to show you yet! The biggest news of the week relates to one of the years biggest films, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’! The embargoes have all been lifted and all of the toy companies can finally show off their amazing new merchandise for the film! There’s that, plus a few other goodies to check out in the toy news for the week of March 6th, 2018!
Diamond Select Toys Prepares For Infinity War
We’re less than two months away from the release of what is arguably the biggest film ever assembled with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’! It’s been ten years and eighteen films worth of buildup, and it’s all come to this! The scariest thing about this movie and just how big it will be is the insane amount of characters from The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be appearing in it and just how many toys we will see hitting the market from this movie! Speaking of which, our friends at Diamond Select Toys look like they’re more than ready for the release of the new film and the onslaught of characters that fans want to see from it! This week they announced their first wave of items hitting the market for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and the list so far is quite staggering! We’ve got new Minimates, Marvel Select, Marvel Gallery PVC Figures, and even Marvel Premiere Collection Resin Statues! As anticipation has been building for next month’s Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, Diamond Select Toys has been hard at work preparing products based on the film. The Infinity Gauntlet
Every year Hasbro pulls another item directly out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe like it’s coming to life right from the screen! So far we’ve had Captain America’s Shield, Mjolnir, and Iron Man and Starlord’s Helmets! This year we’re getting a life-sized, articulated, and most importantly wearable replica of the legendary Infinity Gauntlet! This bad boy will set you back $100, but it seems a small price to pay for such power (nobody tell Thanos!)
Hot Toys Does Some Assembling Of Their Own
You probably guessed it pretty early on, but it looks like the team at Hot Toys is also not planning on missing out on any of the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ action! This week they revealed three new items in the form of two new 1:6th scale figures and a 1:1 scale prop replica that will blow you away!
For their “Avengers: Infinity War’ 1:6th scale line, Hot Toys has unveiled both Thor and Iron Man! Both figures sport their characters new look for the film and include a variety of alternative parts and character specific accessories! They’re both some of the best versions of these characters so they will definitely be worth taking a look at!
In addition to these two figures, Hot Toys has also announced an insanely detailed 1:1 scale replica of the infamous Infinity Gauntlet! This thing is being made to look screen accurate with tons of tiny details and LED light up functionality! The downside? It is essentially a resin statue. This piece has zero articulation and is not wearable. It will still make for quite a conversational display piece for sure!
