With only a few more months left until the premiere of ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising,’ we have finally gotten what is being dubbed the “final” trailer for the film, which gives us a lot more of the plot and set-up for the movie. The footage sets the stage for what we should expect and helps to bridge the gap between the first and second films for anyone who is only watching the trailers and not reading too deeply into the character descriptions behind the scenes.
The trailer reveals the Kaiju have returned and that John Boyega‘s character (who is the son of Idris Elba’s heroic pilot from the original) is being recruited from what appears to be a life that put him in jail for a higher purpose: driving a Jaeger. The trailer has also revealed that there apparently is a traitor on Earth who let the Kaiju monsters back in, and, unless I am mistaken, is piloting another Jaeger against our heroes. This means we will be getting some epic Jaeger on Jaeger battles in the film, which, from the trailer, look amazing.
The film stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, and Adria Arjona, with Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Rinko Kikuchi, with Steven S. DeKnight stepping into the director’s chair, and it will open on March 23rd 2018.
