They weren’t always Super Friends. At the somber end of ‘Batman V Superman’, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) hatches a plan to unite the other super beings of the world to help fill the void left by Superman’s death. In ‘Justice League’, Wayne sets out to recruit these would-be champions. But what if some don’t want to be found, much less join his little club?
It looks like we’re about to find out. In this clip, Bruce tracks Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) down to a frozen fishing village after hearing reports of a mysterious and powerful figure who helps the village when times are hard. And the villagers do their best to conceal him, but when agitated, Aquaman lashes out.
We don’t know in which order Wayne goes after Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg, so it’s unclear where in the film this clip falls, but it’s entertaining and not too spoiler-y. But I will spoil this, there is a joke here that, at least in my opinion, falls flatter than a dead flounder.
But check it out for yourself below. (Note, the film clip is only a minute long. The rest is a compilation of Aquaman-related footage from previously released trailers, plus some interview footage of Momoa, discussing his character.)
Yeah, the “talks to fish” thing. Gee, haven’t heard that one a billion times.
Obviously, this weekend belongs to ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, but ‘Justice League’ is hot on its heels. We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out when the dust settles before ‘Star Wars’ swoops in to close out the year.
‘Justice League’, directed by Zack Snyder (with Joss Whedon), stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, Ciarán Hinds, Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa with Amy Adams, Billy Crudup, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, Joe Morton, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons and Robin Wright. It hits theaters on November 16th.
