When Taika Waititi first signed on to direct ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, many True Believers were perplexed by the notion of the same director behind ‘Flight of the Concords’, ‘The Inbetweeners’, and ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ tackling the God of Thunder’s next adventure away from the Avengers. Although, the early reviews are indicating that the filmmaker’s unique brand of comedy mixes very well with the epic visuals of the Nine Realms and beyond. But before we catch up with the Thunderer on the big screen once again, we have a new sneak peek at the upcoming Phase Three film that focuses on its comedic side.
While Ragnarok is traditionally a pretty bleak event that signals the end of everything, ComicBook.com recently shared an exclusive look at the lighter side of Thor’s latest battle. A few of the gags are extended versions of bits that we’ve seen already, but one highlight is definitely the joke made by Korg, the rock creature played by Waititi himself. You can check that out and more in the video below, followed by the official synopsis of the movie:
Thor’s world is about to explode in Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. His devious brother, Loki, has taken over Asgard, the powerful Hela has emerged to steal the throne for herself and Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe. To escape captivity and save his home from imminent destruction, Thor must first win a deadly alien contest by defeating his former ally and fellow Avengers… The Incredible Hulk!
What do you think about Taika Waititi’s injection of comedy into the mythology of Thor and Asgard? Are you excited to see how it all comes together in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’? Let us know how you feel about it in the comments.
