The shorter seasons of ‘The X-Files‘ doesn’t appear to be keeping Chris Carter too busy as he now plans on also bringing back ‘Millennium’! Carter believes that there are “more of those stories to tell” and that a revival would give a “new approach to that show building on the solid foundation that was already there.”
For those unfamiliar with the series, this cult classic was a horror and science-fiction series which ran from 1996 to 1999 on Fox. It starred Lance Henriksen (‘Aliens’,’Terminator’) front and center as former FBI agent Frank Black who has the ability to see inside the minds of criminals. He was investigating the Millennium Group and truth be told there were more questions than answers when the series came to a close.
While the ‘X-Files’ episode “Millennium” did contain a crossover with the series which tried to help finalize the plot, there was still a lot of ground to cover. It would be kind of neat to see Agents Mulder and Scully show up to help close the case though if it even happened, I doubt they would go that route. The fanbase wasn’t exactly pleased with how that episode had ended things, so the cast and crew would probably try to avoid our favorite agents.
Carter has recently talked about how the story could go on, although “no one’s ever spoken seriously” to him from Fox about bringing it back. Of course, with ratings for the ‘X-Files’ showing that there is an interest in his work, you never know what might happen.
Would you be thrilled to see ‘Millennium’ return to the small screen for one last outing to wrap up the story arcs or has this ship sailed from the lack of viewership the first time around? Share your thoughts below!
