It seems quite obvious these days that you can’t have a mega billion-dollar franchise without some major product marketing and the ‘Star Wars’ franchise is no exception. To commemorate the worldwide launch of new products inspired by ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,’ Disney and Lucasfilm have announced September 1st as Force Friday II. To kick off the event, the studios have released a global augmented reality (AR) event titled “Find the Force” which you can participate in right now!
The first part of the AR event is a nifty little treat for any ‘Star Wars’ fan around the world. Anyone within a mile of 20 of the world’s most iconic destinations just has to open the Star Wars App and look up! There you’ll be treated with a short augmented reality scene. The 10-second animation shows a Star Destroyer loom over key landmarks as two TIE Fighters shoot past into the distance.
Here are the landmarks and geographic coordinates for those who’d like to see the animation unfold on their phone:

When you scan the graphic using the Star Wars App, you’ll reveal a character, who through augmented reality, will appear in the room with you. You can then take photos, record videos, and share the experience on social media. It’s a pretty cool way to immerse yourself into the Star Wars universe as you can see below:
