At long last, Marvel/ Netflix has finally released a trailer for ‘The Defenders’ and it looks amazing! Similar to how excited it was to finally see all of the Avengers on-screen together for the first time back in 2012 when ‘The Avengers’ came out, it is very cool seeing all of the Netflix Marvel heroes standing/ fighting side-by-side in the trailer, interacting with one-another throughout. You cannot help but imagine the possibilities all of these intersecting personalities have, and the fun the showrunners are going to have bouncing these characters off one another as they face off against Sigourney Weaver’s mysterious villain.
One of the highlights of the trailer, of course, include what appears to be first interaction between Luke Cage and Danny Rand, where Danny tries to punch Luke and finds him invulnerable, and then charges up his fist and gets a solid blow against Luke’s face, with both asking questions about the other’s power, followed by Claire explaining to both that they are on the same side, which is hopefully the beginning of the beautiful friendship we know and love from the comics. Also fun is the scene of the four heroes (I won’t quite call them a team yet) fighting down a hallway, with Murdock using Jessica Jones’s scarf as his disguise, all while she tells him he looks ridiculous.
Personally, I think the only thing I am more excited for this summer is ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ and that is saying something because there is also ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2‘ out this week and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ coming out, but Netflix has spent a lot of time building up ‘The Defenders’ and if the trailer is any indication, the series might pay off nicely for Marvel, Netflix, and best of all, the fans.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together. The Netflix original series will launch globally on August 18, 2017.
