rocket-and-baby-groot

Talk about a downer, we’ve just learned that Baby Groot won’t have any of his memories as Groot in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.‘ This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as the key scene we’ve seen him in with Rocket seems to be giving him a much more childish attitude than what he displayed in the original movie but it is still sad to see be true. The question came up from a fan when director James Gunn was doing a Q&A on Facebook.

The fan asked specifically if Baby Groot would have memories from being Groot and the response was that Baby Groot is entirely different. He is a new character and won’t have any prior memories which means that everyone will have to get to know him and he them all over again. Hopefully, he’ll be able to grow into the same kind of a friendship with Rocket that he originally had.

While fans everywhere were thrilled at the introduction of Baby Groot from how cute he was, many of us believed that this also meant Groot had survived saving his friends and would be returning. Learning that he is an entirely new Groot will sadden many all over again.
