We’ve seen a slew of casting news from ‘Aquaman‘ so far though one name who hasn’t popped up is fan-favorite Aqualad from both ‘Young Justice’ and ‘Teen Titans.’ Director James Wan was recently asked if he would be part of the cast and was happy to share his answer as if to we would be seeing him join the likes of Mera, Orm, Black Manta, Vulko, and Atlanna who will already share the screen with the ruler of Atlantis.

So what is the verdict on this young hero making an appearance?

For those unfamiliar with Aqualad, he was introduced as Aquaman’s protege before becoming a full-fledged hero in his own right. While not pivotal to Aquaman’s story, and especially not his first solo film, he is a fan-favorite who many were hoping to see show up on the big screen.

While he won’t be in ‘Aquaman’ that isn’t to say you should give up hope that we’ll be seeing him as he made a big comparison to another DC character with his second comment:

So there you have it. Aqualad has not been ruled out of being introduced down the line. There just aren’t plans for him to show up until at the very least Aquaman has been solidly introduced to the DCEU. Oh, and it probably has to prove financially viable to continue before we’d end up seeing spin-off characters appear as well.

Are you sad to hear that Aqualad won’t be in ‘Aquaman’? DO you feel that Wan’s view that we need the central hero introduced before his protege is valid? Share your thoughts below!

‘Aquaman’ is scheduled for an October 5th, 2018 release.
