Here we are once more with an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Winter is upon us as we breeze our way through December to the end of the year and the holiday season! We’re only a couple of weeks out from some of the biggest holidays of the year, and as our year comes to a close we’re getting all sort of great new announcements from some of our favorite toylines! This week we even have the pleasure to reveal a once dead line returning from the grave! So what are you waiting for? There’s lots to see in the Toy News for the week of December 13th, 2016!
Holy Jolly Hot Toys
Tis the season of giving, so our friends at Hot Toys is giving us a look at two new figures from some of our favorite franchises! From the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we are welcoming the new ‘Iron Man 3’ Mark XV ‘Retro Sneaky’ Iron Man Armor! new 1:6th scale figure will only be available in certain regions, and is a retro-classic red and gold Iron Man colored version of the formerly stealth-colors-only Mark XV armor!
Iron Man 3 – 1/6th scale Sneaky Mark XV (Retro Armor Version)
With its built-in cloaking system, the Mark XV “Sneaky” armor is among the most unique armors in Tony Stark’s “House Party Protocol” in Iron Man 3. Today Hot Toys offers a special inspired take on the armor, livening up the original’s cool dark gray color scheme to give it the Iron Man classic red-and-gold finish which first appeared in the Iron Man 3 concept art of this armor.
The Retro Armor Version of the 1/6th scale Mark XV collectible figure has the same sleek form factor as the movie version, but is given the iconic red-and-gold Iron Man coloration with newly painted and electroplated parts to mimic the original concept art design. This figure features a meticulously crafted armor equipped with LED light-up functions on eyes, arc reactor and repulsors, the unique asymmetrical forearm design, plus a specially designed dynamic figure stand and gold colored name plate. Only available in selected markets, this exclusive Mark XV 1/6th scale figure will make a great addition to your Iron Man collection!
Hot Toys also officially announced both a standard and a deluxe edition 1:6th scale version of Jyn Erso, who is out new lead heroine from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’! Both versions of this new 1:6th scale Jyn Erso figure are the same for the most part, except that the ‘Deluxe Version’ includes a variety of additional accessories and even includes an additional outfit!

Mountain Of Marvel Legends Reveals
Now that we’ve gotten full teaser trailers for two of Marvel Studios biggest films of next year, ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ and ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’, the team at Hasbro is pulling exactly zero punches with the reveal of a ton of new Marvel Legends 6″ scale figures!
From ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ we get our first look at the villainous Vulture figure! This figure will sport a massive pair of fully articulated wings that span 12″ and are actually set to be this waves build-a-figure rather than an actual character! No other figures for this wave have been revealed yet, but it’s safe to say we’ll see an updated version of MCU Spiderman, along with a healthy blend of both movie and comic book styled characters.

Next up we’ve got our first look at new figures from ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’, including new versions of Starlord and Drax, along with our first ever Yondu movie figure in this scale! Star Lord looks pretty different this time around, featuring his shorter jacket (which was highly demanded after the last version only had the longer trenchcoat) along with both masked and unmasked heads, his blasters, and a new logo on his tee-shirt. Drax looks to be mostly the same as the previously released figure, although he has a new angrier looking headsculpt and sports blue pants rather than the previously issued red ones. Yondu will have two alternative heads (one with a short fin and one with a tall fin, both with different equally impressive facial expressions!), along with his special arrow that even has a flying effect! There is still no word on if we can anticipate new versions of Gamora and Rocket Raccoon, or our first figures of Little Groot and Nebula! Beyond these three new movie styled figures, we are also getting comic book styled versions of Angela, Nova, Darkhawk, Vance Astro, and a build-a-figure for the wave of Titus!

Finally, images have leaked of a new Walgreens retailer exclusive Black Panther Marvel Legends figure! This version looks to be a re-release of the comic book styled Black Panther figure we saw a few years back in the ‘Rocket Raccoon’ wave of Marvel Legends figures; although this new version includes a bunch of new accessories like a cape and spear, as well as a slightly darker paint job.
While there is no set release date for Black Panther, the rest of these new Marvel Legends 6″ scale figures are due out sometime around next spring and summer to coincide with their respective film releases.
Back To The Beginning
In order to properly prepare for the upcoming ‘ALIEN: Covenant’, the team at NECA are heading back to the well with a previously cancelled fourth wave of figures based on the previous film in the series, ‘Prometheus’! This wave was supposed to hit shelves a few years back, but after the first three waves of ‘Prometheus’ figures failed sell as well as NECA hoped, this already announced wave was scrapped entirely. Thankfully, someone at NECA is paying attention and realized that ‘ALIEN’ fandom has been gobbling up anything that they can get their hands on from NECA, so we are finally getting these awesome figures! This new fourth wave of ‘Prometheus’ figures includes Shaw, Vickers, and Zombie Fifield.
In preparation for its upcoming sequel, Alien: Covenant, we return to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi thriller Prometheus!
At long last, this series includes the never-released figures fans have been requesting: Vickers, Shaw and Fifield. The 7” scale figures are entirely movie accurate and feature over 25 points of articulation. Vickers (Charlize Theron) comes with flamethrower and removable helmet. Shaw (Noomi Rapace) comes with axe, removable helmet and the android David’s severed head. Fifield (Sean Harris) comes with flashlight and removable helmet. Clamshell packaging.
The Massive Merc With A Mouth
As always, NECA is on a mission to blow us all away with some of the coolest toys they can think up, and this time it looks like they decided to go big or go home with the massive 1:4th scaled Deadpool figure that should be hitting stores this week! This figure is huge, and includes a variety of fantastic Deadpool specific accessories, bringing us the biggest most badass version of the character to date (unles you count the life size version that was also recently released by NECA). Check out the new images of the figure in package below-
The newest addition to our line of quarter scale action figures is Marvel’s Merc with the Mouth!
Possibly the most skilled mercenary in the world… and definitely the most annoying. The joke-cracking, reference-making, fourth-wall-breaking, taco-eating funnyman of the cold-blooded killer set, Deadpool has long skirted the line between hero and villain, between maniac and genius, between ugly and smelly. This incredibly detailed 18” figure has over 30 points of articulation for great action poses. Accessories include katanas, sai, machine guns, pistol and knife accessories, all with working holsters and sheaths.

More Toys R Us Teen Titans Exclusives
Fresh on the heels of the announcement of Toys R Us getting the timed exclusive release of Teen Titans Dorbz figures, Funko and Toys R us have revealed yet another fantastic new retailer exclusive in the form of a Funko POP! vinyl of Jinx! This figure is available on their website now, and should be in stores!
Ride Into Battle With ‘Son Of Zorn’!
Funko is going all in on Fox’s new half-animated-half-reality television series ‘Son Of Zorn’, which features Zorn, an animated warrior from the fictional land of Zephyria coping with his ex-wife and teenage son in modern day California. From the series fans can look forward to POP! vinyls of Zorn (classic Zephyria gear, ‘With Hot Sauce’ which has him in a shirt and tie, or the Hot Topic Exclusive ‘Office Attire’ version which also has him sporting a shirt and tie, but instead of holding a bottle of hot sauce he is holding a chalice), as well as actual retro-styled action figures (which look way suspiciously like what the team at Super7 is doing with the ‘Masters Of The Universe’ license). These are due out in stores any day now!
The Dark Knight Deluxe
While releases in this line are few and far between (there are literally only four figures in this line so far), Funko has announced a new hero will be joining the ranks of their Super Deluxe Vinyl figure line with the addition of the caped crusader himself, Batman! The new 10″ Batman Super Deluxe vinyl figure is due to hit stores next February.
Dumpster Diving For more
They were the hit collectible that you didn’t know you needed until it was too late, and now they’re back for more! That’s right, Funko is bringing back their Garbage Pail Kids blindboxed vinyls for a second series of minifigures, and they’re just as disgusting looking as ever! Grab your favorites like Buggy Betty, Brainy, Beasty Boyd, and more! These are set to hit stores any day now, so keep your eyes peeled!
