Hello and welcome once again to an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! It’s the first week of fall and while we are sad to see summer come to a close, it is always super exciting to see all of the new fall toys hitting the shelves all at once so that people can start shopping for the holidays! It doesn’t hurt that New York Comic Con is just over a week away either! We’ve got lots of fun new items in the Toy News for the week of September 27th, 2016!
We Didn’t See This Coming
Well, that isn’t entirely true. We were all kind of hoping for these, but didn’t expect to see them so soon! According to MarvelousNews, Diamond Select Toys has revealed their second Minimates box set based on Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ live action television series! This set is comprised of Stick, Battle Damaged Daredevil, Elektra, and Karen Paige! We got our first taste of Netflix ‘Daredevil’ Minimates at SDCC earlier this year with a two pack of Daredevil (Red Costume) and The Punisher, and the first four-figure box set featuring Daredevil (Black Costume), Kingpin, Foggy, and Claire Temple is due in stores any day now, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for it!
Hot Toys Heating Up Hells Kitchen
The team at Hot Toys have been known to make some of the coolest figures out there based on the live action comic book film adaptations, and now they’ve given us out first look at their spin on one of Marvel’s television series with their all new 1:6th scale Daredevil figure! This figure is based on the characters appearance in Season 2 of Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ series that airs on Netflix! This figure comes packed with interchangeable facial expressions, two variations of Daredevil’s billyclub weapon, and a special figure stand made uniquely for this character! Marvel’s Daredevil – 1/6th scale Daredevil Collectible Figure
Marvel’s Daredevil, the first of a wave of planned Netflix shows based on Marvel Comics characters, has raised the bar high for superhero adaptations on television. The dark, gritty drama has been a triumph with audiences and critics alike, thanks in no small part to its more down-to-earth portrayal of its protagonist, Matt Murdock, a blind man who fights crime as a lawyer by day and a masked vigilante by night. Armed with little more than his heightened senses and superb martial arts skills, the Man Without Fear is as vulnerable as he is awesome in his daring endeavors to uphold justice in the notorious Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City.

Hot Toys New Toys R Us Exclusive Storm Trooper
This week Hot Toys has revealed plans for a new retailer exclusive 1:6 scale Jedha Stormtrooper from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ that will be sold only at Toys R Us stores in select markets! This exclusive figure is based on the specialized Stormtrooper that can be seen patrolling planet Jedha in this Decembers ‘Rogue One’! Check out the full release from Hot Toys below-

The Hunter Become The Hunted
Our friends at NECA have got some great new reveals for fans of their ‘Predator’ line! First up is a new teaser image posted by NECA’s Randy Falk that shows off what looks to be a new variant of the ‘Ultimate’ Jungle Hunter Predator mold! This new variant looks to feature the Jungle Hunter Predator in ‘mid-cloak’, so he isn’t quite invisible but is partially see through with some wonderful looking leaf effects painted on! It’s hard to say if they eyes will be light up, glow in the dark, or are just painted this way, but regardless it’s safe to say this figure looks like it’s going to be fantastic! We will keep you posted as more information emerges.
Additionally, NECA released additional information and images for their upcoming Predator Accessory Pack that is due to hit stores in just a few weeks! This new Predator Accessory pack includes great in scale accessories that should work with most figures in the ‘Predator’ line like Plasma Cannon Blast Effects (x1 Blue, x1 Orange), a Xenomorph Skull, several variations of a human skull and spinal cord (bloody, non-bloody, spinal cord attached, ect), and of course the real prize of the set, a Flayed Human Corpse accessory! This Predator Accessory set is due to hit stores in the next few weeks, so be ready to get hunting soon!
Quantum Mechanix Joins The Squad
This summer it seems that everyone has jumped on board the ‘Suicide Squad’ bandwagon and is pumping out as much Joker and Harley merchandise as is physically possible (and who can blame them? The film has done gangbusters at the box office!). The latest company to join in on the fun are our friends at Quantum Mechanix with their lovely new ‘Suicide Squad Harley Quinn’ Q-Pop figure! She was both announced and released online this week, and you can order here directly from Quantum Mechanix for her retail price of just $14.95! Go Go Loyal Subjects!
We got a sneak peek at these a while back, but now The Loyal Subjects has revealed the full series lineup for their second wave of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ blind-boxed figures! This new wave is going to be heavily based around ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie’ and will include all six rangers in their movie costumes, Ivan Ooze, Alpha-5, and the classic Season One Dino-Zords! Ivan Ooze and Alpha-5 are set to be retailer exclusives, although we can’t be sure where they will be exclusive to as of yet.
The Funko Forecast
Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!
NYCC 2016 Exclusives Round One & Two!
This week Funko continued rolling out their waves of announcements for what fantastic new exclusives they would have available at New York Comic Con 2016 in a few weeks! This week we saw waves three, four, and five announced to a mixed reaction from fans that are both excited to be getting these characters and upset that they’re exclusive and harder to obtain. New York Comic Con is just over a week away, so while it looks like this may be it, it’s entirely possibly that Funko still has a few surprises up their sleeves for convention exclusives! Be sure to stay tuned for further updates!
Funko Set To Rebel
Over the past few years, the official ‘Star Wars’ cannon has been shaken up a number of times, but of all the recent changes and additions, few shine as bright as the ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ animated series. Funko is celebrating the hit animated series with a new wave of POP! Vinyls based on the show! This wave is set to include Kannan, Zeb, Sabine, Hera, Ezra, and Chopper, as well as retailer exclusives like Ahsoka (Hot Topic) and a Helmeted Sabine (Walgreens)! These are due to start hitting stores later this fall.
Squad Goals
This summer Warner Brothers ‘Suicide Squad’ blew up at the box office, and now Funko is set to bring all of the action to your collection with a new wave of 3.75″ scale articulated figures based on the film! Included in this set will be The Joker (Shirtless), Harley Quinn (Prison), Deadshot, Batman, Killer Croc, Enchantress, and Katana. These are set to hit stores this January!
Funko dark crystal
It only took three decades, but we are finally getting a full series of action figures based on Jim Henson’s ‘The Dark Crystal’! This wave of Funko ReAction figures includes Jen, Kira, The Chamberlain, Augrha, and UrSol! To put the icing on the cake, if you collect them all you can build an in scale replica of the Dark Crystal itself! These are due out in October.
