It seems like casting is picking up for Shane Black‘s ‘The Predator‘ and he is currently in talks with Benicio Del Toro (‘Guardians of the Galaxy’,’The Wolfman’) for the lead role. While there will be other leads in the film, the plot is still a mystery and all we know is that Del Toro’s character would be the cornerstone for this ensemble piece. It looks as if Del Toro and the studio have actually been trying to make this work out for months but his schedule had been getting in the way until an opening in February might be making this film a reality.

No other word as to who might be joining the cast at this time but fans of the original 1987 film which kicked off the franchise have high hopes that Arnold Schwarzenegger might return in some capacity. On wouldn’t expect him in as a lead but as a consultant, if the government is tackling the appearance of ‘The Predator’ would be fantastic. Or perhaps a recording of his debrief after the events from the first film.

Black has previously stated that “this one will be set in present day” so Arnold could feasibly show up in one form or another.

I’m thinking if Del Toro is the stand out for the lead that the direction of this film will be something dark and gritty as that tends to be the style that his work fits into.

Are you looking forward to Shane Black’s take on ‘The Predator’? Do you thin that Benicio Del Toro would be the perfect actor to go up against one of these aliens? Share your thoughts below!

‘The Predator’ is currently scheduled to be released on March 2nd, 2018.
