‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ has already introduced alternate versions of ol’ Web Head, including Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099, The Scarlet Spider, Iron Spider, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Girl and even Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. Now get ready for another arachnid enforcer, as Spider-Gwen is set to swing onto the show voiced by Disney star Dove Cameron (‘Liv And Maddie’… she plays both Liv and Maddie and Mal in ‘Descendants’).
Spider-Gwen will debut during the upcoming four-part ‘Return To The Spider-Verse’ storyline. Specifically, in the fourth installment which airs on September 17th.
The storyline will involve the regular Spider-Man/Peter Parker (voiced by Drake Bell) and Miles Morales (Ogie Banks) meeting several more alternate Spider-heroes, many of which will be voiced by former Spidey voice actors. Ben Diskin, who has voiced Spider-Man in various projects, Venom on ‘The Spectacular Spider-Man’ and Spider-Ham on this series, will play a character named Blood Spider. He pops up this coming Saturday.
Christopher Daniel Barnes, who voiced Spidey on the 1990s series, Electro and Spyder-Knight on ‘Ultimate’ will return to portray Wolf Spider.
The second installment of this storyline will feature Will Friedle, who has never played Spider-Man, but who is fondly remembered as Terry McGinnis/’Batman Beyond’. He also voiced Ron Stoppable on ‘Kim Possible’, Lion-O on the short-lived 2011 reboot of ‘Thundercats’ and Star-Lord on various Marvel series including ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. He will be playing Web Beard, a pirate version of the crime fighter.
Joining Friedle will be his ‘Guardians’ costar Trevor Duvall, reprising his role as Rocket Raccoon and Seth Green who will portray Howard the Duck!
Finally, in the third episode of this storyline, Milo Ventimiglia will return as Spider-Man Noir.
Part One of ‘Ultimate Spider-Man vs. the Sinister Six: Return to the Spider-Verse’ airs this Saturday on Disney XD at 8:00 pm EST. The subsequent episodes will air weekly following that.
