When Marvel Studios first announced their plans for Phase Three, ‘Inhumnans’ was originally scheduled for 2019. However, as the line-up evolved to include ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, things were shuffled around and the film featuring Black Bolt, Medusa, and the rest of the Inhuman Royal Family was taken off the schedule. Despite that, Kevin Feige insisted that the movie is still alive. In fact, based on recent comments, many feel that it could be part of Phase Four. Although until then, it looks like some of the major players in that story may make a stop at ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ before hitting the big screen.

When it comes to the first series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, True Believers are currently excited about the arrival of Ghost Rider to ABC. But there’s a possibility that he may not be the only vintage Marvel Comics characters making an appearance in the upcoming fourth season. In a recent interview with io9, showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen revealed that they would be allowed to use some of the classic Inhumans on the show now that the movie had been pushed back. Whedon expanded on that while still remaining vague:

“We do have a little more freedom. We’ve told a couple of seasons of stories but now we do have some more freedom. So when we return to focusing on Inhumans, we’ll be able to do a little bit more.”

“A little bit more” could mean a number of things, but one must assume that they have to save something for the feature film. If I had to make a guess, I’d say that the King and Queen of Attilan probably won’t show up to cross paths with Agent Phil Coulson and his team. Taking their budget into consideration, Crystal might be the best bet since her costume and powers don’t require much special enhancement from CGI and make-up. But if they’re going to bring in the princess, why not bring her faithful companion Lockjaw as well to use that special effects budget on? The dog-like creature is too adorable to be left out.

Another possibility could be Karnak, the philosophical karate expert that was never exposed to the Terrigin Mists. With his recent spike in popularity due to his first solo comic book series from Warren Ellis, his puzzle-solving and strategic planning could benefit the agents when dealing with hostile Inhumans like Maximus the Mad or his allies.

Are you excited about the possibilities of some more well-known Inhumans appearing on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Which characters would you want to make their MCU debuts on the show ahead of the Inhumans movie? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
