San Diego Comic Con is never without its fair share of surprises: whether it’s celebrities walking the floor in disguise, big announcements that weren’t forecast to be made, or unexpected faces popping up in panels where they weren’t announced, half the fun of the experience seems to be the unexpected pleasures that are in store for con-goers.
Marvel and Netflix scored a big win at SDCC when their joint panel to promote the next show to be released, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage,’ premiered some awesome footage of not only that show, but also existing properties ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones,’ and brief teasers for upcoming series ‘Iron Fist‘ and ‘The Defenders’ as well. An awesome moment at the panel was when Jon Bernthal, better known to Marvel/Netflix fans as the embodiment of Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in the second season of ‘Daredevil,’ came on stage as a surprise guest.
Fortunately for us non-attendees, some video has surfaced (and high-quality video at that!) that shows Bernthal’s interaction with Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President of Marvel Television, right after the “sizzle reel” clip was played. Check it out:
Bernthal can be seen in the second season of ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’ now streaming on Netflix, with plans for a solo Punisher series in the works.
