After giving updates on ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Marvel Studios presented a new trailer for ‘Doctor Strange’. Director Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Rachel MacAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, and Benedict Wong were on hand to introduce the latest look at the Sorcerer Supreme’s Phase Three film. You can check out the trailer below:

Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

When the first ‘Doctor Strange’ trailer dropped, though it was well-received, a lot of people made ‘Inception’ jokes. Despite those elements still being present, we got to see more than just the world folding over on itself this time around. Watching the various ways Strange, the Ancient One, and others manipulate reality is pretty reminiscent of the trippy visuals seen during Steve Ditko’s iconic run with the good doctor. I’m looking forward to seeing what other sort of effects come into play when Cumberbatch’s character starts mastering more techniques of the mystic arts.

And speaking of those skills, did the Ancient One indicate that masters of the mystic arts can manipulate space and time? If that’s the case, this could certainly be a game changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just imagine the possibilities for future stories if time travel is thrown into the equation.
