EA‘s smash hit ‘Battlefield‘ series is going to be coming to the small screen thanks to Paramount TV. The studio has teamed up with Michael Sugar (‘Spotlight’) to acquire and use the rights for the franchise and turn it into a television series. With the rights having just been picked up we have no idea who will be in charge of writing or directing duties at this time and actors are far from being cast. Hell, we can’t even tell you if this will debut on network television or a streaming service but as an ongoing war series if it lands on a network one would hope that it is HBO who has a history of showing off Spielberg’s war dramas or Showtime who hit it big with ‘Homeland’.

According to Paramount TV’s President Amy Powell:

“Paramount TV actively seeks smart content from all sectors that will resonate with audiences and translate to compelling programming. EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen. We look forward to working with EA and Anonymous Content and thank Michael Sugar for his tenacity in bringing us this exciting project.”

Michael Sugar followed up with:

“Battlefield has a tremendous built-in, engaged fan base, making it a highly coveted piece of IP primed for long-form adaptation. Together with EA and Paramount TV, we’ll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly fifteen years.”

While I personally think that Netflix might be the right home for this I’m eager to see where the series lands. It is also unclear as to which era that this series will be taking place in or if they are aiming for an anthology series where each season can focus on a different conflict.

Do you think that ‘Battlefield’ will follow any of the existing storylines or follow a new confrontation entirely? Share your thoughts below!
