Jaeden-Lieberher-midnight-special

While Pennywise is the central villain for Stephen King’s ‘It‘, it’s “The Loser’s Club” that is the heart and soul of the novel and now we’ve learned the first piece of casting news for the club! Jaeden Lieberher (‘St. Vincent’,’Midnight Special‘) has just landed the role of the Club’s leader, Bill Denbrough.

While previously rumored to be up for a part in the film, this is the first confirmation that he is attached and who he’ll be playing. Bill is the one who sets the Club’s goal to bring down Pennywise after the demonic clown kills his younger brother Georgie. With the childhood iteration of Bill having been cast, it is hard to tell when we’ll find out when the adult version will be. As each of the 2 parts to this movie are set in their own time period, it is hard to tell if we’ll see any of the childhood versions in the sequel or the adults pop up in the first film.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the novel has us following the Losers Club which is a group of outcast teens who end up having to defeat the demonic entity It who generally goes by the name Pennywise while in clown form. The ordeal was wiped from most of their minds and when they come together as adults they quickly learn that while they defeated Pennywise, the creature wasn’t killed and is out for revenge.

At this time the only other real casting on this Andres Muschietti (‘Mama’) directed film is the recently announced Bill Skarsgard (‘Hemlock Grove’) as Pennywise. I’m sure as pre-production starts ramping up that we’ll see plenty of new names becoming attached rather quickly.

Have you seen Jaeden Lieberher’s work and think he’ll make a good Bill? Who would you like to see as an adult version of the character or as the rest of “The Loser’s Club”? Share your thoughts below!

Pennywise will be haunting theaters in Stephen King’s ‘It’ Part 1 on September 8th, 2017!
