Angry Birds

While the material released up to this point for the ‘Angry Birds‘ movie has been mildly entertaining, the first two trailers, for me at least, did not present us with anything to get overly excited about. Sure it sounded like it had a great voice cast, especially with Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad, but I just was not sure how the film was going to hold up, especially since it was based on a phone app that at first glance does not seem to offer a particularly compelling storyline. However, my opinion might have changed now that I have seen the more recent trailer, which gives away a little more of the plot, namely why the birds are so angry at those pigs. It all revolves around stolen eggs, and the birds learning to be less chicken and more angry, in order to get their eggs back. The new trailer showcases more of the voice cast, and also a few more of the actual jokes, which shows that the writing may actually be a lot smarter than I had originally given the film credit for.

And check out the full synopsis below:

In the 3D animated comedy, “The Angry Birds Movie,” we’ll finally find out why the birds are so angry. The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely.  In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, “We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses”), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since “Frozen”), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, “This is the End,” “Eastbound and Down”) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

‘The Angry Birds Movie’ will fly into theaters on May 20, 2016.
