Dan-Amboyer

Is ‘Younger’ star Dan Amboyer playing Green Lantern/Hal Jordan in Warner Brothers’ new DC Cinematic Universe?  He can’t say.  He is currently listed on IMDB as playing “Drone Pilot” and there are other rumors that refer to his character as “Lt. Christie.”  But why the secrecy if he’s just playing a bit part as a random, possibly nameless pilot?

Amboyer is making the rounds to promote the movie– another oddity for a glorified extra– and did discuss the filming process, in particular, the use of practical effects, which is refreshing… and also perhaps a bit telling.

Here is what he said recently:

Green-Lantern-Hal-Jordan“It was awesome. I got there right at the beginning of shooting and it was crazy because my first day people were showing me around and all of a sudden the Superman suit comes by — and it’s giant. It’s not something you can hang up. So that was insane. But what I thought was really interesting was that they filmed a lot of it on film, not digital. So a lot of the sets were actually built. So, all of a sudden, you’re on another planet, literally. Everything is so intricate and perfect. You think so much of that is just CGI and postproduction, but it was actually there.”

“Another planet” you say?  What planet could that be?  There are confirmed references to despot Darkseid, who hails from the planet Apokalips.  Could that fiery realm be the alien world Amboyer is referring to?

Or is it Oa, the base of the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps?

But moving along, slightly, if Amboyer is playing a pilot, then his name must appear on his uniform, right?  The actor spilled, “Oh, yes.  It does appear, but it’s kind of an undercover thing.  The name appears on me at one point.”

Once again, if his part is just a random pilot, why can’t he divulge that?

Well, one thing he is allowed to discuss is his favorite color.  “Blue.  Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green.”

Well, obviously he’s not playing Saint Walker of the Blue Lanterns.  (Or is he?)

If he’s not playing Hal Jordan, this could be a tease worse than when everyone kept denying that Benedict Cumberbatch was actually portraying Khan in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’.  Once it turned out that he was, audiences were actually angry at being lied to during the film making and promotion process and the film fared well below expectation and was voted by fans as the worst ‘Star Trek’ movie in the history of the franchise.

‘Green Lantern Corps’ is due for release on June 19, 2020.

But first, you can catch Amboyer as “Drone Pilot” in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ on March 25, 2016.

What do you think?  Would Amboyer make a good Hal Jordan?
