Marvel Television has a lot on their plate right now. In addition to the acclaimed shows on Netflix like ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones’, ABC is home to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Agent Carter’. There are a number of series in development as well such as the mysterious John Ridley project and the half-hour workplace comedy ‘Damage Control’. However, one production from the pipeline that seems to be moving along nicely is ‘Most Wanted’, the ’S.H.I.E.L.D.’ spinoff starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood as on-again, off-again personal and professional partners Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird and Lance Hunter. And now that the pilot was greenlighted earlier this month, we have our first bit of casting news.
According to Deadline, Delroy Lindo is the newest addition to the third show from the House of Ideas on ABC. Recently seen playing Sheriff Tip Harrison on ‘Blood & Oil’, the veteran actor is also known for his roles in ‘The Chicago Code’, ‘The Cider House Rules’, ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Gone In Sixty Seconds’, and Disney and Pixar’s ‘Up’. In ‘Most Wanted’, Lindo will play the rogue known as Dominic Fortune. Created in 1975 by comic legend Howard Chaykin, the character pursued riches and excitement throughout the 1930s with his globe-trotting odysseys. During his time as a mercenary and costumed adventurer for hire, Fortune encountered Captain America, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, and even Agent Phil Coulson.
But likely more important for the purposes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the expert combatant and handgun aficionado has a history with Mockingbird as well. After finding a flawed Super Soldier serum in modern times, Fortune took it and was de-aged to his youthful self once more. Although, the botched concoction caused a temporary memory loss. Once his memory was regained and he found the right people to keep it under control, he opted to join Bobbi’s World Counter-terrorism Agency along with Hawkeye and Black Widow to hunt down the creators of a kill list that targeted spies such as themselves. Though we don’t know anything about ‘Most Wanted’ at this point, this sure sounds like a good reason for Mockingbird and Hunter to break off from Director Coulson and the rest of the team for a little while.
What do you think about the newest addition to Marvel’s ‘Most Wanted’ on ABC? Do you think that Delroy Lindo fits the bill for Dominic Fortune? And is it possible that the character’s comic book history with Mockingbird will influence the happenings on the upcoming spinoff? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
