Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of tie-in comics being created for television shows so it’s fun to see that a new comic is being created as a tie-in to CBS’s ‘Supergirl‘ which is based on a comic. This is the perfect example of the circle of creative life my friends!

Kidding aside the comic is going to be released through DC’s Digital First series and will be written by Sterling Gates who has a long history on writing the Girl of Steel. On top of that, some beautiful art which you can see here is being handled by fan favorites Bengal, Jonboy Meyers, Emanuela Lupacchino, and Emma Vieceli. Bengal will be covering the first three issues and tackling pencilling, inking, and coloring.

There will be 13 chapters in this bi-weekly comic which coincide with the Monday releases of new episodes. While the series is initially being put out digitally, a graphic novel compilation will also be released at the end of each run. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if on the release it will be labeled as a season of the show.

While the comic won’t be related to the episodes directly, it will expand the universe that has Supergirl working with the DEO while protecting National City. Also, it will follow her day job working for CatCo. This will allow the series to expand the villains by including some of her classics such as Rampage, Vril Dox, and Psi among others. While the series will be considered canon it’s doubtful that we’ll see any references to what happens in the book on the show itself, but you never know what could happen.

DC has a long history of comic series tying into their shows stemming from ‘Smallville‘ continuing after the events of the popular television series and both ‘Arrow‘ and ‘The Flash’ having tie-in books.
