I have to wonder if there are actually ‘Star Wars’ fans that are so passionate and have such deep pockets that they can actually collect every scrap of tie-in merchandising they find.  My roommate (NOT a genre fan) bemoaned the presence of ‘Star Wars’ Coffeemate and bottled water in the kitchen and that’s just a mote of the giant marketing monster for this franchise.  Where does one store ‘Star Wars’ Campbell soup cans and Kraft Mac & Cheese boxes?  Doesn’t the food go bad?

Well, much easier to collect, display and store are the four covers to the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ preview issue of ‘Entertainment Weekly’!  This special double issue hits stores on Friday and the SW presence is so strong that the ‘Star Wars’ logo appears above the actual name of the magazine.  Fans get a little something old and something new: both Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn, in full Stormtrooper regalia) get their own covers; while old school fans are treated to a Harrsion Ford (Han Solo, who is featured in an in-depth interview) cover and one featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO.

You can check them out below:

And what sorts of secrets lie beneath these covers?  As you can see, the cover teases insight into J.J. Abrams and his team’s creative process as well as some new reveals about Princess Leia’s role and the relatively spoiler-free whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, a mystery that has been kept tightly under wraps, spurring fans to concoct their own theories, the most popular being that somehow Luke is the villain of the story.

Director Abrams goes behind the scenes of Starkiller base and offers some details on Lupita Nyong’o’s character, the pirate Maz Kanata.  And there is even an examination of the expanded ‘Star Wars’ universe with a handy look at which novels, comics, video games, etc. are still canon in this new reality.

Forget Christmas!  For Force Fans, December 18th is the winter date everyone is counting down to!  And this magazine should keep the fever burning for the remaining month+ until that big event.

Which cover will you pick up?  Or will you collect all four?

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ starring John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
