With the success of ‘Jurassic World‘ we knew that there would be more adventures at the park and it seems that seuels are being written to make this into a trilogy. It is even being hinted by Universal that the goal from the very start was to make this into a trilogy as long as box office sales and viewers wanted more. As ‘Jurassic World’ is now one of the biggest box office openings of all time, it should be no surprise that a three movie order has been made.
Considering that Chris Pratt (‘Guardians of the Galaxy’,’Her’) has previously stated that “They have me for I think 38 movies or something” it almost feels that just 2 more is too few.
Still, we at least know that they are going to have some of the top talent in the field behind them as Universal studio executive Donna Langley commented past confirming the movies by saying who is going to be involved on shaping the next two installments in the franchise:
[Director] Colin Trevorrow is busy working on an outline. He’s been working with Steven [Spielberg]. And they have an idea for the next two movies actually. It was designed as a trilogy, unbeknown to us. It’s a happy surprise.
So with this being the plan all along and both Spielberg and Trevorrow holding the reins, I think we’ll be in for a real treat when the movies do end up getting made. At this time ‘Jurassic World 2’ is due out in the summer of 2018 with the follow up due in 2019 or 2020. I’m sure we can all hope that these sequels fair better than the sequals to ‘Jurassic Park’.
