AMC’s spin-off of their hit ‘The Walking Dead,’ titled ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ premieres this coming Sunday, August 23rd, and to help prepare audiences for what is to come, they have released a new behind the scenes featurette introducing the characters that will be featured on the show. They stress that the cast is mainly comprised of a blended family, joined when their two single parents decide to move in together, and that the series at first will mainly deal with normal every day life for the families, that way the audience can get to know the characters and their struggles before things start to go bad.

Both of the parents work at the local high school, the mom (Madison Clark, played by Kim Dickinson) as a Guidance Counselor, the dad (Travis Manawa played by Cliff Curtis) as a teacher (which is most likely how they met). The mom has a 19 year old son who is a drug-addict named Nick (played by Frank Dillane), which I am sure will play heavily into the series once the zombie apocalypse arrives, while the daughter Alicia (played by Alycia Debnam-Carey) seems to more on the straight and narrow. They also introduce us to a second family, hispanic, with a very sheltered daughter who will clearly be tasked with growing up very quickly and finding her strength once the zombies begin to interrupt the lives of her family.

The trailer does a great job of setting the mood of the series, and establishing what we can expect from the coming episodes, and why the show will be different from the main series, ‘The Walking Dead.’ The series welcomes executive producer Robert Kirkman (author of the original comics), with fellow executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and David Alpert, with David Erickson working as the showrunner.
